I feel like it's important to know what you're good at in life. Being able to acknowledge your talents helps you be more successful, and everyone is good at something. My main strength has always been chocolate chip cookies.
Seriously. If you want a quick, easy, go-to recipe for the absolute best cookies in the world, look no further. These babies come out perfect every time, they're soft and gooey and delicious. I have been relying on this recipe for years for Christmas presents, birthday parties, and any other event where food is expected.
The Ingredients
Wet Ingredients:
Dry Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup butter
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Dry Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 package chocolate chips
The Recipe
This is so so simple. First off, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Place all of the wet ingredients at once in an electric mixer and mix on low at first, gradually increasing speed as the mixture combines. Once it's reached a smooth, creamy texture (about three minutes of mixing), add in the salt, baking soda, and 1 cup of flour at a time, mixing after each cup. IF YOU ADD ALL 3 CUPS OF FLOUR AT ONCE, your mixer will explode flour all over your kitchen and you will be cleaning flour out of your cabinets for days. Trust me, take it nice and slow. Once you have a nice thick and smooth cookie batter, pour in the chocolate chips and mix them in as well. Using a spoon, space out globs of cookie dough on a cookie sheet, roughly two inches apart. These cookies will spread out, so adjust the size of your globs based on how big or small you want your cookies. Bake for 15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. I usually let them bake on the sheet a while longer after taking them out of the oven, which gives them a really great soft texture.
Aaaaaand that's it! You just made absolutely perfect chocolate chip cookies. Quick and easy, right? Enjoy! Links to check me out on Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter are to the right and I would love it if you left any comments/questions below. Thanks for reading!
